IPL 2025: Captains Of All 10 Teams
The captains of all 10 teams for the 2025 Indian Premier League season has been announced that will start from the 22nd of March.
It promises to be an exciting season with few new captains
for their respective franchises.
Here we look at the 10 captains of IPL 2025.
1.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Kolkata Knight Riders has appointed experienced Ajinkya
Rahane this season. He was bought by the KKR franchise for the base price of 1.5 Crore.
Rahane will replace Shreyas Iyer who led KKR to their third
title in IPL history during the 2024 edition of this prestigious tournament. Venkatesh
Iyer has been appointed as his deputy.
2.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Sunrisers Hyderabad retained Pat Cummins as the captain of
IPL 2025. Under his captaincy, SRH finished in the top two before losing to KKR
in qualifier 1 and finals.
SRH would be looking to build on the success with the likes
Kamindu Mendis, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Shami, Brydon Carse, Mohammad Shami & Adam Zampa in their squad for this year’s edition.
3.
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Rajasthan Royals also retained Sanju Samson as the captain
of IPL 2025. Under his captaincy, RR finished 4th in the points
table before defeating RCB in the eliminator. They suffered a loss to Sunrisers
Hyderabad in qualifier 2.
Rajasthan Royals will see the likes of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Nitish
Rana, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Hasranga, Akash Madhwal, Fazallahq Farooqi
in their squad.
4.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
RCB has appointed Rajat Patidar for this year’s edition. He
has replaced the experienced Faf du Plessis. RCB made a stunning comeback to qualify
for the playoff stage after losing 6 of the 7 matches. They proved their worth
winning 6 successive matches.
RCB lost to Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator. Rajat
Patidar had a nice captaincy stint with Madhya Pradesh reaching the finals of the 2024/25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
5.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Chennai Super Kings retained Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain
of IPL 2025. CSK could not qualify for the playoff stage as they suffered a narrow
loss to RCB in their final league game.
CSK would be looking to make a comeback with impressive
performances by the captain.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
Lucknow Super Giants has appointed explosive wicket-keeper
batter Rishabh Pant for this year’s edition. He was bought for a whopping 27
Crore and would be looking to take LSG to the playoff stage.
Pant will be replacing KL Rahul and will be looking to prove
his worth. LSG finished 7th in the points table during the 2024 edition.
8.
Gujarat Titans (GT)
Gujarat Titans had a disappointing outing during the 2024
edition finishing 8th in the points table. Shubman Gill has been
retained by the GT franchise after a disappointing outing in last year’s edition.
Gujarat Titans bought Mohammed Siraj, Jos Buttler & Kagiso
Rabada in their squad for this year’s edition.
9.
Punjab Kings (PBKS)
Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the captain for IPL 2025.
He led Kolkata Knight Riders winning the third title during last year’s
edition.
He was bought by the PBKS franchise for a whopping 26.75 Crore. They
would be looking to make a strong comeback before fizzing out finishing
disappointing 9th in the points table.
10. Mumbai
Indians (MI)
The five-time champions Mumbai Indians retained Hardik
Pandya as the captain of IPL 2025. Hardik was appointed as the captain of the MI
side in 2024 replacing Rohit Sharma.
Mumbai Indians
finished last in the points table with only 8 points. They would be looking to
make a great comeback and hoping to see MI win another title in IPL history.
