  The Indian badminton team reached the quarterfinals of Thomas Cup with a resounding 5-0 win over Australia in second Group A game played at Horsens, Denmark on 27 th April 2026. Lakshya Sen began with an emphatic win over E Stephen Ram in two straight games. It was a dominating performance by Sen keeping his opponent under pressure winning with 21-14, 21-16 scoreline. The second game was a closely fought affair with Ram providing some fight, but Sen showed his class to win it in 37 minutes. Ayush Shetty completely decimated S Dhand in the second singles. It was an impressive performance by Shetty keeping Dhand under pressure and did not allow any chances to his opponent winning with 21-8, 21-6 scoreline in just 26 minutes to make it 2-0 in the tie.   The Indian men’s team started their Thomas Cup journey with a 4-1 win over Canada in Group A fixture at Forum Horsens Court 2, Horsens on 24 th April 2026.   The first match of the day saw Lakshya Sen suffering three game loss to Victor Lai. It was a closely affair between these two quality players. Sen showed glimpses of his brilliance keeping Lai under pressure. At the mid-game break, the Indian had commanding 11-5 lead. After the interval, Lai fought back strongly before Sen took a commanding 17-11 lead. Lai showed fighting spirit to reduce the scoreline at 18-19. Sen held his nerves to seal the first game by 21-18.
