This Day That Year: Indian women’s team continued unbeaten run against Pakistan in World Cups
The Indian Cricket Team proved their domination as they defeated in their 3 rd game of the ICC 2017 Women’s World Cup played at County Ground, Derby on 2 nd July. Indian captain Mithali Raj won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Smriti Mandhana was dismissed cheaply by Diana Baig for just 2. Instead of Mithali Raj, Deepti Sharma came at number 3. She along with Punam Raut steadied the innings by rotating the strike and hitting occasional boundaries. Nashra Sandhu got the big wicket of Punam Raut to break the 67 runs stand for the 2 nd wicket. The Pakistani bowlers kept a tight line and picked wickets at regular intervals to make life tough for the Indian batters. Sushma Verma played according to the merit of the ball while Jhulan Goswami gave full support. Both Indian batters added 34 important runs.
