Indians dominate in latest ICC Test rankings

  After an impressive 3-1 win in the Test series over England, there have been changes in the latest ICC Test rankings announced by ICC on Wednesday. Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, Joe Root, Marnus Labuschagne, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam maintained the top six spots. England captain Joe Root and Virat Kohli did not have a great fourth match as both were dismissed cheaply. The explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant made a remarkable 101 and helped India recover from 146 for 6 reaches his career-best rankings of number 7 th . It was an amazing knock by Pant who showed patience in the first fifty runs and then counterattacked putting pressure on England bowlers with innovative strokes. His knock helped India post a competitive total and then bowl out visitors for a paltry total to give the hosts an innings and 25 runs win. For his 101, Pant was awarded the man of the match. New number 1 ranked batsmen in latest ICC Test rankings

  After the Test matches between India- Australia, and New Zealand- Pakistan, there have been changes in the latest ICC Test rankings announced today. Kiwis captain Kane Williamson overtakes Steve Smith to occupy the number 1 Test batsman rankings. He made 129 runs in the first innings of the first Test match played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, and was named the man of the match award for his match-winning knock. The Indian captain Virat Kohli who is currently not featuring in the Test series remains at the number 2 position. After scoring 0 and 8 in the 2 nd Test match against India at MCG, Steve Smith slips down 2 places down to number 3. Marnus Labuschagne retained his fourth position with scores of 48 and 28 in the 2 nd Test match against India at MCG.   Under the captaincy of Graeme Smith, the South African Cricket Team became the number 1 ranked Test side after defeating England at Lords on 20 th August 2012. South African captain Graeme Smith won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision did not pay off as the visitors lost 4 wickets of Smith, Alvrio Petersen, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, and AB de Villiers. Thanks to a brilliant partnership between JP Duminy and Vernon Philander, the visitors recovered ending the first day on 262 for 7. Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel's contributions lower down the order helped the visitors post 309 runs in the first innings. The South African pace trio of Steyn, Morkel, and Philander pushed the hosts under pressure by reducing them to 54 for 4.
