Swiss Open 2021: PV Sindhu settles for silver

  PV Sindhu settled for silver as she lost a one-sided final to Carolina Marin of Spain played at Switzerland, Basel on Sunday. It was a close start by both players who played long rallies and equaled at 4-4. After that, Marin played with aggression maintaining pressure on PV Sindhu. At the mid-game interval, the Spaniard took an 11-7 lead. After the break, Marin looked in complete control and produced smashes making life tough for the Indian, and won the first game easily at 21-12. The second game saw Carolina Marin played with aggression and maintained consistent pressure on Indian with smashes taking a commanding 5-0 lead. Marin was simply unstoppable with her smashes to take a commanding 11-2 lead at the interval. After the interval, Spaniard kept on putting pressure on the Indian and won the game with 21-5 to take the women’s singles title. China Open 2019: List of winners

It was an amazing day on the badminton court as 4 matches went right down the wire in the finals of the Super 1000 China Open 2019 played at Changzhou on 22nd September.  Mixed doubles In all Chinese affair, World number 1 Zheng Siewei and Huang Yaqiong defeated the world number 2 pair of Wang Yilu and Huang Dongping in three sets by 21-17, 13-21, 21-16. It was an amazing performance by World number 1 who played with aggression and showed their dominance in the 1 st set winning it 21-17. In the 2 nd set, Wang and Dongping came back strongly to win it easily 21-13 to force the match into the decider. In the deciding game, the world number 1 made attacking moves and put pressure on the other pair. Zheng and Huang won the 3 rd set at 21-16 to win a grand slam of Super 1000 events in 2019. Women’s Singles Carolina Marin returned back strongly after a career threatening injury beating Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in three sets by 14-21, 21-17, 21-18. The first set ...
