Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan Finishes Last In Group A

  Host nation Pakistan finished last in Group A after their match against Bangladesh was abandoned without a ball being delivered played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on 27 th February. Hosting an ICC tournament in Pakistan after a gap of 29 years, Pakistan's lead-up to the Champions Trophy began off to a shaky start as they suffered twin losses against New Zealand in the tri-nation series played in Lahore and Karachi including South Africa.   The league of the Under 19 T20I Women’s World Cup 2025 ended. It was an excellent group stage game with impressive performances from associate nations and qualifying for the Super Six stage. A total of 4 groups with 4 teams each took part. The top three teams in each group progressed of the Super Six Stage. Here we look at the Results of Group Stage Matches Group A The defending champions India finished at the top of Pool A with commanding wins over West Indies, Malaysia& Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka finished second on the points table with commanding wins over hosts Malaysia& West Indies. West Indies emerged as the number 3 position in the points table.   Afghanistan showed their resilience as they registered an emphatic 92-run win in the first One-day international match against Bangladesh played at Sharjah Cricket Ground, Sharjah on 6 th November 2024. Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and decided to bat first on a good batting paradise. It was not an ideal start for the Afghanistan team as they lost an early wicket namely Rahmanullah Gurbaz.   The Indian Cricket Team produced another dominating performance against Bangladesh on the 3 rd day of 1 st test match played at M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 21 st September 2024. Starting on the overnight score of 81 for 3, Shubman Gill and Pant began off cautiously taking singles. Both batters looked in great touch taking on Mehidy Hasan Miraz with some big shots keeping the scoreboard ticking. Pant reached fifty off just 88 deliveries, keeping the momentum going. After his milestone, Pant took on the Bangladesh bowlers with innovative strokes. Gill also looked in complete control ensuring that they put enough pressure on tired Bangladesh bowling.   The Indian Cricket Team ended the 2 nd day in a strong position with a solid bowling performance bundling out Bangladesh cheaply at M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 20 th September 2024. Starting on the overnight score of 339 for 6, Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed with a lovely delivery by Taskin Ahmed without adding any runs to his overnight score.   After a historic victory in the 2 nd test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi, the Bangladesh Cricket Team climbed to fourth during the latest ICC World Test championship cycle for 2023-25. As of 3rd September 2024, Bangladesh climbed to 4 th position and climbed ahead of England. They are currently with 45.83 percentage points including 3 wins and 3 losses from 6 matches so far. Bangladesh won their first-ever test match against New Zealand at Sylhet Cricket Ground by 150 runs. Under the captaincy of Najmul Hasan Shanto, Bangladesh registered their first-ever win against Pakistan in Test matches. After the bowlers gave away 448 for 6 in the first innings, Bangladesh batters showed their domination posting 565 runs.   Pakistan named their playing 12 for the second Test match of the series against Bangladesh to be played at Rawalpindi on 30 th August 2024. The hosts Pakistan would be looking to make a comeback and level the series after a disappointing 10-wicket loss in the first test match.   Bangladesh registered their first-ever Test win over Pakistan on the fifth day played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on 25 th August 2024. Starting on the overnight score of 23 for 1, Pakistan got off to a worst possible start as captain Shan Masood was dismissed by Hasan Mahmud via review. The umpire called not out, on review it was turned to out. Liton Das dropped a simple chance to dismiss Babar Azam off the very first delivery. Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam showed some intent against Bangladeshi bowlers. Nahid Rana put Pakistan on the backfoot getting the wicket of Babar Azam taking the inside edge onto the stumps.
