Manpreet Singh has been handed the charge for prestigious event. Hockey India thought about sending a second-string side for CWG due to the short gap between CWG and Asian Games. However, with the Asian Games postponed to next year due to the COVID situation in China, HI decided to send a strong unit for the prestigious event. In the 2018 edition, India finished fourth losing to England by 0-6 in the bronze medal match. This time around they have been clubbed in Group B with England, Canada, Wales, and Ghana.
