Starting on the overnight score of 195 for 7, BJ Watling and Somerville started the innings on a positive note taking singles and hitting occasional boundaries making Sri Lankan bowlers frustrate. Lahiru Kumara got the breakthrough dismissing BJ Watling for 77. Somerville and Watling added 47 runs for the 8 th wicket. Trent Boult joined Somerville and played with positive intent making life tough for Sri Lankan bowlers. Boult and Somerville added 36 runs for the 9 th wicket. Boult scored 26 off 25 balls.
