Thomas Cup 2022 Day 1: Indian team blank Germany

 The Indian men’s team started the Thomas Cup tournament with a dominating win over lower-ranked Germany in the opening match played at Impact Arena Court 2, Bangkok on Sunday. Lakshya Sen making his Thomas Cup debut put enough pressure on Max Weisskicheren before Max showed courage and made life tough for Sen. At the mid-game interval, Max led 11-9. After the break, Lakshya did not allow his opponent to settle with brilliant shots taking 5 successive points and maintaining the lead till the end. The Indian won the first game easily at 21-16. Lakshya looked sharper in the second game after the initial lead by German. Sen dominated the play and took a commanding 11-5 lead at the interval. After the break, it was one-way traffic as Sen was superb with his shots winning the second game easily at 21-13 to give India a 1-0 lead. FIH Pro Hockey League 2022 Leg 2: Indian team end season with a comfortable victory

 The Indian men’s hockey team ended the home season with a comfortable win over a young German side in the 2 nd leg of the FIH Pro Hockey League 2022 played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Friday. It was an aggressive start by the Indian team putting pressure on the German defense. Both teams did not get chances in the first 8 minutes. Akashdeep Singh missed a golden chance to get an opening goal for India. Both teams increased the pace of the game but none of the teams were in real danger. At the end of the first quarter, scores remained 0-0. The second quarter began on a positive note with Sukhjeet Singh converting a brilliant field goal in the 19 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead.  The Indian men’s hockey team continued their impressive form with a comprehensive 3-0 win over the young German side in the 1 st leg of the FIH Pro Hockey League match played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Thursday. It was an aggressive start by the Indian side putting pressure on the German side. India earned their first penalty corner as Jugraj took the shot but was well defended before Nilkanta's shot went wide. Indian team kept the pressure on the young German side and did not convert chances into goals. At the end of the first quarter, the scores remained 0-0.  The Indian Junior’s team could not defend their title as they lost to Germany in the 2 nd Semi-finals of Junior Hockey World Cup 2021 played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Friday. It was a brilliant start by the German side as they put pressure on the Indian defense right from the word go. Germany earned their first penalty corner in the match but did not yield any results. Indian team tried to make entrance into German circle but was not able to do it. Germany earned their first penalty corner converted by Klennin.  The Indian men’s team produced a great game of hockey as produced stunning to clinch historic medal against Germany played at the Oi Hockey Stadium, North Pitch on Thursday. It was a perfect start for the German side as Timour Oruz scored in the 2 nd minute itself as the Indian defense lacked coordination. After the initial attack, Germany went down to 10 players receiving a green card. The Indian team earned a penalty corner, but Rupinder Pal Singh shot was not great.   After a one-year gap, the Indian Men’s hockey started the Europe tour with a thumping 6-1 win over Germany played at Krefeld on Sunday. The Indian hockey team put the pressure right from the word go on the Germans. After creating lots of chances, India earned a penalty corner in the 13 th minute. Nilkanta produced a brilliant goal to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. In the next minute, Constain Saib leveled the score with a superb field goal. At the end of the first quarter, the scores remained 1-1. It was a superb start for the Germans putting pressure on the Indians and earned two back-to-back penalty corners in the first few minutes. The Indian goalkeeper made brilliant saves and created aggressive moves. Vivek scored two back-to-back goals in the 27 th and 28 th minute.
