ICC ODI Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2025: Scotland Women Stuns West Indies

  It was a historic moment for Scottish Cricket as they defeated favorites West Indies in their opening match of the ICC World Cup qualifiers played at Lahore City Cricket Association Stadium, Lahore on 9 th April 2025. West Indies captain Hayley Mathews won the toss and decided to field first. Abbi Aitken Drummond & Darcey Carter got off to a cautious start keeping the scoreboard ticking with lovely shots. At the end of the first 10 overs, the Scotland openers made 41 for 0. West Indies captain Mathews struck dismissing Drummond with a simple catch to Alleyne. The Scotland openers put on 48 runs for the opening wicket. Mathews struck two more times in quick succession getting rid of Kathrine Bryce & Darcey Carter to leave Scotland struggling.   The Bangladesh Women’s team began the T20 World Cup with an easy win over debutant Scotland in the opening match played at Sharjah Cricket Ground, Sharjah on 3 rd October 2024. Bangladeshi captain Nigar Sultana won the toss and decided to bat first. Shahti Rani and Murshida Khatun began with positive intent taking singles and hitting occasional boundaries. Khatun could not make use of the drop chance providing a simple catch to Fraser at mid-off. Sobhana Mistry and Rani struggled against disciplined Scotland bowling. At the end of the first six overs, Bangladesh women scored 35 for 1. Mistry and Rani struggled against disciplined Scotland bowling. Katherine Fraser struck for Scotland dismissing Rani with a simple catch to Horley at midwicket. Mistry and Rani added 42 runs for the 2 nd wicket.
