 PV Sindhu proved her worth going as she made it into the finals beating Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in a thrilling three games while Lakshya Sen lost of BWF World Tour finals played at Bali, Indonesia on Saturday. The World Champion, Sindhu did not have a great start trailing 0-4 in the first game before equalizing the score at 4-4 and then 9-9. Both players took alternate points before the Indian grabbed 15-14 and then an 18-15 lead. Soon after, Sindhu grabbed 3 successive points in succession to take the first game by 21-15. It was a close-fought second game also as both players took alternate points before Yamaguchi took a slender 11-10 lead at the interval.  Indian ace shuttler produced a sensational display as she defeated Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals played at Mushino Sports Forest Plaza, Tokyo on Thursday. The match started on an even term as Yamaguchi produced some brilliant smashes and put the Indian under pressure. Sindhu came back strongly with some lovely smashes and great netplay. She returned to the game to level the scores. The Indian shuttler put Yamaguchi under so much pressure hitting smashes making life tough for the Japanese. At the mid-game interval, Sindhu led 11-7.   PV Sindhu registered a great comeback from one-set down and entered the semi-finals of the prestigious All England Badminton Championship 2021 played at Birmingham on Friday. The women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy went down fighting to Selena Piek and Seinen of the Netherlands in two straight games. It was an aggressive start by the Netherlands pair who put Ponnappa and Reddy under immense pressure with smashes. Piek and Seinen took an 11-7 lead at the interval. After the break, the Indian pair made a strong comeback with good attacking play and leveled the scores at 15-15. Both pairs fought for each point right down the wire, but Netherland’s pair held their nerves to win the first game at 24-22.
