SA T20 2025 Finals: Mumbai Indian Cape Town Becomes New Champion

  Mumbai Indian Cape Town became the champions of SA T20 2025 with a resounding win over Sunrisers Eastern Cape played at Wanders, Johannesburg on 8 th February 2025. MICT captain Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat first. Ryan Rickleton showed intent right from the word go putting enough pressure on Marco Jansen. On the other hand, Rassie Van der Dussen struggled with his timing. Craig Overton got the breakthrough getting rid of dangerous Ryan Rickleton with a good catch by Liam Dawson.   The defending Champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape produced a dominating performance to beat Paarl Royals in qualifier 2 of the SA T20 2025 played at SuperSport Park, Centurion on 6 th February 2025. Sunrisers Eastern Cape captain Aiden Markram won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for the defending champions as Marco Jansen struck in his first over dismissing dangerous Mitchell Owen without opening his account. Luhan de Pretorius and Rubin Hermann looked cautious initially after an early wicket.   At the end of the first six overs, Paarl Royals scored 45 for 1.   The defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape Town stay alive with an impressive win over Johannesburg Super Kings in the eliminator played at SuperSport Park, Centurion on 5 th February 2025. JSK captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to field first. Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham got off to a flying start putting CSK bowlers under immense pressure. Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana got the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Zorzi. Zorzi and Bedingham put on 46 runs in 3.2 overs.   Under the leadership of Rashid Khan, Mumbai India Cape Town reached the finals with a comprehensive win over Paarl Royals in the first qualifier played at ST George Stadium, Port Elizabeth on 4 th February 2025. Paarl Royals captain David Miller won the toss and decided to field first. MI openers Ryan Rickleton and Rassie Van Der Dussen showed intent right from the word go putting pressure on the Royals bowling. Both openers kept the scoreboard ticking making life tough for the bowlers. At the end of the first six overs, MI raced away to 66 for 0. Van Der Dussen and Rickleton made the batting look easy.
