Indian women versus Australian Pink Ball Test match 1st Day: Smriti Mandhana brilliance leads India’s charge on a rain curtailed day

  Thanks to a brilliant batting effort by Smriti Mandhana, the Indian team ended the first day of the historic Pink Ball Test against Australia in a decent position played at Carrara Oval, Gold Coast on Thursday. Australian captain Meg Lanning won the toss and decided to field first. Smriti Mandhana began off in an aggressive mood putting pressure on an inexperienced Australian bowling lineup consisting of Darice Brown. On the other hand, Shafali Verma looked tentative as she was dropped in the slips by Meg Lanning going down to her left. Mandhana showed great attacking skills and hit Brown for four boundaries in an over. The luck was in favor of the Indian team as Indian openers survived few anxious moments.   The second day’s play of the 1st Day-Night Test match played between India and Australia saw some exciting action played at Adelaide Oval on Friday. Starting on the overnight score of 233 for 6, it was not an ideal start for the Indian team as Pat Cummins produced a beauty to dismiss Ravichandran Ashwin. Wriddhiman Saha tried to slash a shot but gave a simple catch to Tim Paine. Umesh Yadav came to the crease and cracked a lovely boundary before Starc dismissed him. Pat Cummins bowled a stunning bouncer to dismiss Mohammed Shami to bowl out India for 244. Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah put a tight leash by bowling good line and lengths. Australia opened their account on the 28 th delivery. After the initial spell, Mohammed Shami was bought into the attack and troubled the Australian openers.
