Indian women crush West Indies by 61 runs to whitewash the T20I series
It was another dominating display by the Indian women’s team as they crushed West Indies by 61 runs to whitewash the T20I series in the fifth and final T20I match played at Providence Stadium, Guyana on 21 st November. Indian stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision did not pay off as both Shafali Verma and Mandhana went in successive deliveries adding 17 runs for the opening wicket. Jemimah Rodrigues and Veda Krishna Murthy steadied the Indian innings with attacking stroke play putting pressure on West Indies bowlers. Krishna Murthy reached her fifty off 43 balls while Rodrigues made the batting look easy on a tough pitch. In the last over, Rodrigues reached her fifty off 55 balls and was dismissed the next by Allyene. Veda Krishna Murthy and Rodrigues added 117 runs for the 3 rd wicket.
