  Under the young captaincy of MS Dhoni, history was created as India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan to become inaugural World T20 winners played at Wanders, Johannesburg on 24 th September 2007. India captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. Yusuf Pathan replacing Virender Sehwag came to open the innings along with Gambhir. It was a flying start by Pathan who scored a quickfire 15 off 8 balls. He was dismissed by Mohammad Asif trying to clear and caught by Shoaib Malik. Robin Uthappa fell cheaply for just 8 runs facing 11 deliveries. Gambhir looked in great touch putting the pressure on the Pakistani bowlers and reached his fifty off just 38 balls.   The young Indian Team proved everybody wrong as they defeated a strong Australian squad in the 2 nd semi-finals of the World T20 played at Kingsmead, Durban on 22 nd September 2007. Indian captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. Virender Sehwag and Gambhir started off cautiously before Mitchell Johnson got the wicket of Sehwag. Gambhir who looked good was dismissed by Johnson leaving India in trouble at 41 for 2. Yuvraj Singh came to the crease and took the attack to Australian bowling. He was severe with his stroke play keeping on good form that he displayed in the tournament. On the other, Robin Uthappa gave most of the strike to Yuvraj. The left-handed southpaw just looked in great touch and reached his fifty off just 20 balls.   The Indian Cricket Team proved their mettle as they defeated the hosts South Africa in their final Super 8 stage match played at Kingsmead, Durban on 20 th September 2007. Indian captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag gave the team a decent start putting on 32 runs. The pitch at Durban had some help for the bowlers. India lost 3 quick wickets of Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, and Virender Sehwag to be in some trouble at 33 for 3. Playing only his 2 nd T20I match, Rohit Sharma came to the crease and looked solid with his stroke play. Robin Uthappa fell cheaply as India lost their 4 th wicket at the score of 61.   It was a historic night for cricketing fans as Yuvraj Singh became the first batsman in T20Is to hit six sixes in international cricket. He achieved this remarkable feat during an important Super 8 match of the ICC World T20 against England played at Kingsmead, Durban on 19 th September 2007. Indian captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision paid off as Sehwag and Gambhir laid a strong foundation putting on 136 runs in 14.4 overs. Sehwag was dismissed for superb 68 off 52 balls while Gambhir scored 58 off 41 balls. Robin Uthappa fell cheaply in the 17 th over.
