Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024: India Thrash Thailand

  The Indian Women’s Hockey displayed a dominating performance in their 3 rd match of the Asian Champions Trophy tournament played at Rajgir International Complex, Bihar on 14 th November 2024. It was a great display of hockey right from the word go putting pressure on the Thailand team. It was an ideal start for the hosts as Deepika hit a forceful reverse flick shot into the goal in the 2 nd minute to give them a 1-0 lead. Preeti Dubey hit another powerful shot inside the D giving no chance to the Thailand goalkeeper in the 9 th minute to make it 2-0 in favor of India.   Thailand could have gotten a chance, but Udita intercepted and denied them. Lalremsiami scored with the goalkeeper saving the shot before she hit in the goal in the 12 th minute with a 3-0 lead. At the end of the first quarter, India led 3-0.   The Indian Women’s Hockey Team will take part in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy tournament starting from 11 th November in Rajgir, Bihar. It promises to be an exciting tournament with teams like Japan, China, Malaysia &Korea featuring and looking to prove worth. Indian team is currently the defending champions and would look to defend the title with lovely performances. Each team will play other teams once with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-finals. Indian team won the title in Ranchi last year. They finished top of the points table in the league stage before winning 2-0 against South Korea in the semi-finals to reach the finals. The finals was a one-sided affair as the Indian team registered a 4-0 win over Japan to clinch the title. It promises to be an exciting tournament with the likes of China, Malaysia, South Korea &Japan giving a tough fight to the hosts and hoping to win the title back again with lovely performances. Women’s Ashes 2023: England Women beat Australia in a thrilling encounter.

 The England team stay alive with a thrilling win over Australia in the first One-day international match played at County Ground, Bristol on 12 July 2023. Australian captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and decided to bat first. Healy got off to a perfect with two brilliant boundaries before Kate Cross dismissed her via a review for LBW. The umpire called it not out and it was overturned to out as it was hitting the stumps. Phoebe Litchfield looked impressive with positive shots. Ellyse Perry was given a reprieve as Amy Jones came ahead of Ecclestone. Litchfield looked impressive with four boundaries in an over off Lauren Bell. At the end of the first 10 overs, Australian women raced away to 62 for 1. Sophie Ecclestone took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Litchfield at mid-off. The Indian men’s and women’s team schedule for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 have been announced by the International Federation Hockey today. The Indian men’s team were placed in Group A with New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Argentina and Japan. They will start their Olympic campaign on the 25 th July 2020 against New Zealand. After New Zealand, Indian team will take on Australia on 26 th July. Their 3 rd match of the Pool will be against Spain on 28 th July, then defending Champions Argentina on 30 th July. The final match for India will be against Japan on 31 st July. The Indian men’s team qualified for the Tokyo Olympics by beating Russia 11-3 on aggregate in the Olympic qualifiers played at Bhuvneshwar. Like the men’s, the Indian women’s team are also placed in Group A with Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, South Africa.
