Dutch Open 2019: Lakshya Sen defeat Yusuke Onodera in three sets to win first BWF World tour title

It was an historic day for Indian badminton as Lakshya Sen defeated Yusuke Onodera of Japan to win his first BWF World Tour title in the finals of Dutch Open played at Almere, Netherlands on Sunday. Lakshya Sen did not get off to a great start as his opponent took a 9-3 lead. Despite Sen reducing the gap to 13-14, Onodera played with aggressive intent and showed his class to win the first set at 21-15. In the 2 nd game, both players took alternate points and were neck to neck till 12-11. Sen took 6 points in succession to race towards 18-11 lead. The Indian continued never gave Yusuke Onodera a chance to win the 2 nd set at 21-14 to force the match into the decider. The third game saw Sen play with aggression right from word go over Onodera. It was a dominating display by the Indian who showed his class to dominate the Japanese opponent to win the third set at 21-15 and win his first major BWF World title. Dutch Open 2019: Lakshaya Sen and RM Bhardwaj move into quarter finals

The young Indian singles player of Lakshaya Sen and RM Bhardwaj moved into the quarter finals of the Super 100 Dutch Open played at Almere, Netherlands on Thursday. It was an outstanding performance by Lakshaya Sen who defeated higher ranked Brazil player Y Coelho in three sets by 21-13,16-21, 21-10. The Indian proved his worth with great shots and put the Brazil player under pressure to win the first set easily at 21-13. In the 2 nd game, Sen committed lot of mistakes which Coelho took advantage of and forced the match into decider. It was again Sen who showed lot of courage to win the third set easily at 21-10 to take RM Bhardwaj in the quarterfinals. RM Bhardwaj stunned 6 th ranked Svendsen in three sets by 21-17, 24-26, 21-8. It was a great performance by the Indian who showed great fighting spirit to win the first set easily at 21-17.
