Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 Quarterfinals 4: Rajasthan beat Bihar in a close contest to enter semi-finals

  Rajasthan experience came to the fore as they defeated Bihar in the 4 th and final quarterfinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Rajasthan captain Ashok Menaria won the toss and decided to bat first. It was an ideal decision as Ankit Lamba and wicket-keeper batsman Bharat Sharma provided a decent start with attacking stroke play putting pressure on the inexperienced Bihar side. At the end of the first six overs, Rajasthan made 42 for 0. After the field restrictions, Sharma and Lamba made the batting look easy. Ashutosh Aman got the breakthrough for Bihar dismissing Sharma with a beauty. Rajasthan openers put on 59 runs for the opening wicket.   Punjab’s great form continued as they crushed defending Champions Karnataka in the first quarterfinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Punjab captain Mandeep Singh won the toss and decided to field first. Karnataka captain Karun Nair and Devdutt Paddikal began off steadily with some good strokes from Paddikal. Sandeep Sharma provided the breakthrough for Punjab as Karun Nair played a poor stroke giving a simple catch to Gurkeerat Singh Mann at mid-off. Coming into the bowling attack, Kaul struck twice in his first over. A rash stroke by Devdutt Paddikal and then a superb catch by Markanade at short midwicket put Karnataka on the backfoot. Arshdeep Singh produced a beauty to get rid of BR Sharath with an easy catch by Abhishek Sharma at first slips to leave the defending Champions in tatters.
