BWF World Championship 2021: Historic moment for Indian badminton

 Despite Kidambi Srikanth losing the final against Loh of Singapore, it was history created as two Indian shuttlers made it into the podium of BWF World Championship 2021 played at Carolina Marin Stadium, Huelva on Sunday. The Indian started looking nervous in the initial stages trailing by 1-3. After that, Srikanth made a strong surge with successive points to take a 9-3 lead. It was a superb display of badminton by the Indian producing half-smashes and cross-court smashes to take an 11-7 lead at the interval. Loh made a strong comeback taking four successive points in successive leveling scores at 11-11. The Singapore player dominated the rallies and kept pressure with a commanding lead.  It was a mixed day for the Indian shuttlers as Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth won their respective quarterfinals matches at BWF World Championship 2021 played at Carolina Marin Stadium, Huelva Spain on Friday. The defending Champions PV Sindhu could not match the speed of World number 1 Tai Tzu Ying losing the match in two straight games. It was a decent start as both players took 2 points each before Tai kept the pressure on the Indian shifting the pace with drop shots and smashes. Tai took a commanding 11-6 lead at interval. After the break, Sindhu made a good recovery to narrow down the gap to 16-18 and then with 17-19 with brilliant cross-court smashes. The Indian could not maintain the pace as she hit the shuttle out as Tai won the first game easily at 21-17.  The Indian shuttlers had a brilliant day as all 4 singles players made it into the quarterfinals of BWF World Championship 2021 played at Carolina Marin Stadium, Huelva on Thursday.  Defending champions PV Sindhu defeated nemesis Pornpaee Chocuwong in two straight games. It was an impressive start by the Indian putting the Thailand player under pressure with brilliant shots taking an early lead. Chocuwong made a strong comeback to level the scores. Sindhu kept the pressure on the opposition making life tough taking an 11-9 lead at the break. After the break, the Indian showed aggressive intent with smashes and quick movement before winning the first game easily at 21-14. The second game also began well for the Indian taking an early lead. Chocuwong took 4 points in succession before Sindhu put Thai player under pressure with brilliant attacking play.  It was a superb day for the Indian shuttlers as most of them made it into the next round of the BWF World Championship 2021 played at Carolina Marin Stadium, Huelva, Spain on Tuesday. Lakshya Sen stunned higher-ranked Kenta Nishimoto of Japan in a thrilling three games. Both players started the match with long rallies as the Japanese took the initial lead before Sen put pressure on Nishimoto. The Indian showed great fighting spirit to comeback equalling the scores at 10-10. At the mid-game interval, Nishimoto had a slender 11-10 lead. After the break, the match ebbed and flow as both players fought for each point. Sen took a 20-18 lead before losing 2 points before taking the next 2 points to win the first game by 22-20.
