French Open 2021: Good Day for Indian shuttlers
The Indian shuttlers had a good opening day of Super 1000 French Open 2021 played in Paris, France on Wednesday. Kidambi Srikanth played his heart out before losing to World number 1 Kento Momota in thrilling three games. It was a great start by the Indian taking an early 4-0 lead initially before Momota leveled the score. Srikanth then took an 8-5 lead before the Japanese took a slender 11-10 lead. After the interval, Momota took points in succession as Indian fought back strongly to level the scores at 18-18. The World number 1 won the first game at 21-18. It was a see-saw battle in the second game as both players took alternate points. At the mid-game interval, Momota took an 11-9 lead at the interval. After the break, Momota showed class and had two match points before Srikanth took four points in succession to game into the decider.
