Bangladesh produced a stunning performance as they defeated Australia for the first time in ODIs during the Tri-series tournament played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on 18 th June 2005. Australia captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Adam Gilchrist was dismissed by Mashrafe Mortaza off the 2 nd ball of innings.
