FIH Pro Hockey League 2022 Leg 1: Indian team proves too hot for Germany

 The Indian men’s hockey team continued their impressive form with a comprehensive 3-0 win over the young German side in the 1 st leg of the FIH Pro Hockey League match played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Thursday. It was an aggressive start by the Indian side putting pressure on the German side. India earned their first penalty corner as Jugraj took the shot but was well defended before Nilkanta's shot went wide. Indian team kept the pressure on the young German side and did not convert chances into goals. At the end of the first quarter, the scores remained 0-0.  The Indian women’s hockey team avenged their last night's defeat in the 2 nd leg of the FIH Pro Hockey League tournament played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Sunday. It was an aggressive start for the hosts as they shot on goal and decided to review the decision. The decision stood as the Indian team lost their review in the first minute of the game. India earned their first penalty corner of the game but was well saved by the German goalkeeper. Germany also kept the pressure on the Indian defense but could not yield any goals. At the end of the first quarter, the scores remained 0-0. The second quarter saw Germany put enough pressure on the Indian defense with attacking play.  The Indian women’s team lost to Germany in a thrilling encounter played at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Saturday. It was a perfect start for the hosts as Navneet Kaur provided the final touch in the 4 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead. Soon after, Germany earned two successive penalty corners. The 2 nd PC was converted by Sippel from a rebound shot in the 5 th minute to level the scores at 1-1. Both team's defenses were rock solid. Nisha went out for 2 minutes getting a green card.  The Indian women’s team showed their skills to register a close-fought game against the visiting Spain side played at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Saturday. Spain dominated the possession right from word go. They kept the pressure on the Indian defense with attacking play but could not convert chances. The visitors earned their first penalty corner but were well defended. Spain kept pressure with consistent circle penetrations. The visitors missed a few chances.  The Indian men’s hockey team registered a thrilling edge-of-the-seat thriller in the opening home match against Spain played at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Saturday. It was an amazing game of hockey as both teams showed great fight and courage. Spain got the first chance as they got the penalty corner in the 5 th minute, but the shot went wide. Soon after, India earned a penalty corner, but the goal was disallowed for dangerous play as Spain went for a review.  The Indian men’s hockey team produced a dominating performance as they ended the South African tour on a winning note crushing hosts with a huge margin played at the Northwest University, Potchefstroom on Sunday. It was an aggressive start for the Indian team as they earned an early penalty corner as the South African defender blocked it. Both teams had big chances of taking the lead but were not able to convert it into a goal. South Africa earned a penalty corner as Dan Bell went past Krishna Pathak in the 12 th minute to make it 1-0. Surender Kumar produced a stunning shot inside the circle to level scores at 1-1 in the 15 th minute and ended the first quarter with 1-1. De Souza was given a green card and was away for 2 minutes.
