Zimbabwe stun Bangladesh in T20I and ODI series

 It was a superb performance by Zimbabwe defeating the full member nation in both T20I and ODI series at home. All 6 matches of the series were played at Harare Sports Club, Harare from 30 th July till 10 th August 2022. Zimbabwe registered the first T20I series win over a full member nation. The first T20I was a high-scoring affair as the host's Zimbabwe posted 205 for 3 in 20 overs. Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine won the toss and decided to bat first. The hosts lost an early wicket of Regis Chakabva. Ervine looked in decent touch before being dismissed. Sean Williams and Wesley Medherve steadied the ship for Zimbabwe putting on 56 runs for the 3 rd wicket. Sikander Raza blasted away Bangladesh bowling lineup along with Medherve.  Bangladesh recorded their first-ever bilateral series win over Australia. The Tigers achieved this feat as they defeated the Aussies in the 3 rd T20I match played at Sher E Bangla Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on Friday. Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start for the hosts as they lost 2 quick wickets of Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar. Shakib AL Hasan showed intent and took the attack to Australian bowlers. At the end of the first six overs, Bangladesh made 28 for 2.  Thanks to a superb all-round effort, Bangladesh started the T20I series with a convincing win over Australia played at Sher E Bangla Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on Tuesday. Australian stand-in captain Matthew Wade won the toss and decided to field first. Mohammad Naim started the innings with a pick-up shot for six. Soumya Sarkar looked out of sorts and was bowled trying to make room taking the edge onto the stumps giving Josh Hazlewood the first wicket. Mohammad Naim played with intent putting pressure on Australian bowling. Bangladesh scored 33 for 1 at the end of the first six overs. After the field restrictions, Adam Zampa struck for Australia getting rid of Naim who tried to play a reverse sweep but was cleaned up. The decision did not pay off as the Aussies lost 3 early wickets of Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting to be in deep trouble at 19 for 3. The match was between the hosts South Africa and West Indies played at Wanders, Johannesburg.   In this tournament, 12 teams took part with 3 each divided into 4 groups. In the opening match, South African captain Graeme Smith won the toss and decided to field first. Chris Gayle looked in cracking form right from word go putting pressure on the South African bowlers.
