German Open 2022: Lakshya Sen stuns World number 1 to reach finals

 The World number 12 and World Champion bronze medallists Lakshya Sen produced one of his best performances defeating World number 1 Victor Axelsen of Denmark in a thrilling encounter played at Westenergie Sporthalle, Mulhelm on Saturday. It was an impressive performance by Sen in the first game as he dominated Axselen right from the word go putting the opposition under pressure. The Indian never looked threatened by his opposition and won the first game easily at 21-13. The second game saw Axelesen make a strong comeback with attacking shots and made life tough for Lakshya Sen. After the mid-game interval, the Danish player showed intent winning the 2 nd game easily at 21-12 to force the match into the decider. It was a closely fought third and deciding game. It was a mixed day for Indian shuttlers as PV Sindhu made into her 3 rd successive finals while Sai Praneeth created history by securing bronze medal at the BWF World Championships 2019 played at Basel, Switzerland on Saturday. PV Sindhu crush 3 rd ranked Chen Yufei of China in two straight games at 21-7, 21-14 to move into her 3 rd successive finals. It was a dominating performance by Sindhu who looked in control right from word go and never allowed her opponent to play her natural game. The Indian had a dominating 11-3 lead at the interval.
