BWF World Championship 2022 Day 1: Top Indian shuttlers qualify for the 2nd round

 The top Indian shuttlers registered impressive wins on the opening day of BWF World Championship 2022 played in Tokyo on Monday. It was a decent day for male shuttlers as HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth won their respective matches. The only disappointment was Sai Praneeth giving a tough fight for world number 4 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei. It was a very closely fought affair as Sai lost the match by 15-21, 21-15, and 15-21 to be knocked out of the tournament. Sai looked in great shape in the second game, but Chou upped his game-winning first and third games easily. Lakshya Sen continued his impressive form defeating Hans Kristian Vittinghus in straight games. It was a dominating performance by Sen winning it by 21-12, 21-11. All England Badminton Open Championships 2020: PV Sindhu moves into 2nd round

It was a great start for PV Sindhu who defeated Zhang Bei Wan of United States of America in two straight sets by 21-14, 21-17 to move into the 2 nd round of the All England Badminton Championships played at Arena, Birmingham on Wednesday. The World Champion started off to an aggressive note taking an early 2-0 lead. Sindhu played with aggression and put the USA player under pressure with smashes. Zhang came back strongly to level the things at 6-6. Both players took alternate points till 9-9. The Indian took 2 points in succession to have a 11-9 lead at the interval. After the interval, Zhang tried her best to come back into the game, but the Indian showed her domination to win the first set easily at 21-14 in just 17 minutes. In the second game, Sindhu again played with aggression initially before committing a lot of mistakes either hitting in the net or hitting out wide. It was a riveting day of play between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on the first day of the 2 nd Test match played at National Stadium, Karachi on Thursday. Pakistan captain Azhar Ali won the toss and decided to bat first. Abid Ali looked solid with his defensive technique. Vishwa Fernando got the early breakthrough dismissing Shan Masood with a beauty and then dismissed captain Azhar Ali with another beauty to leave Pakistan in trouble at 10 for 2. Abid Ali impressed with his attacking approach and made the batting look easy. Babar Azam survived an LBW shout which was given out by the umpire.
