BBL 10 finals: Sydney Sixers beat Perth Scorchers in the finals to retain the title

  A superb all-round effort helped Sydney Sixers defeat Perth Scorchers comfortably in the finals of the BBL 10 played at full capacity Sydney Cricket Ground, SCG on Saturday. Scorchers captain Ashton Turner won the toss and decided to field first. It was a good start by Sixers openers as Josh Philippe and James Vince provided a solid start putting pressure on the opposition bowlers. A superb combination by Tye and Hardie resulted in the run-out of Josh Philippe. At the end of the first four overs, Sixers made 31 for 1. After the field restrictions, Daniel Hughes and James Vince steadied the innings for Sixers. Vince looked in great touch hitting boundaries at will. A superb catch by Colin Munro got the important breakthrough for Scorchers taking the wicket of Hughes.   Thanks to all-round performance, Perth Scorchers proved too strong as they defeated Brisbane Heats in the challenger played at Manuka Oval, Canberra on Thursday. Brisbane Heats captain Chris Lynn won the toss and decided to field first. After a quiet first over by Bartlett, Liam Livingstone looked in sublime touch putting the Brisbane Heats bowlers under pressure right from the word go. On the other hand, Bancroft who replaced Jason Roy also played with intent. At the end of the first four overs, Scorchers made 33 for 0. After the field restrictions, Liam Livingstone upped the ante and kept on putting pressure on Brisbane Heats bowlers especially Swepson and Marnus Labuschagne. Heats decided to bring Morne Morkel as a replacement. Livingstone completed his fifty off just 27 balls to lay a strong foundation for a massive total.   After being released by Delhi Capitals in the mini-auction before IPL 2021, Alex Carey made a brilliant century against Brisbane Heats played at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on Thursday. Adelaide Strikers captain Travis Head won the toss and decided to bat first. Alex Carey came to open the innings with Jake Weatherald and provided a flying start putting pressure on the Brisbane Heats bowlers. At the end of the first four overs, Strikers made 43 for the loss of no wickets. Weatherald and Carey played with intent making life tough for the opposition. Labuschagne struck for Brisbane Heats getting rid of Weatherald with a quickfire 36 off 18 balls. Strikers openers put on 66 runs in 6 overs.   Thanks to a dominating performance, Sydney Sixers registered their biggest win in BBL history as they defeated Melbourne Renegades played at Blundstone Arena, Hobart on Sunday. Melbourne Renegades captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for Renegades as Hatzoglou got rid of Jack Edwards cheaply. At the end of the powerplay overs reduced to 4 overs, Sixers made 27 for 1. James Vince played with intent and put Renegades bowlers under some pressure while Joshua Phillippe took some to settle. After settling in, Philippe took the attack to Renegades bowlers and completed his fifty off 36 balls. Daniel Hughes gave good support to Philippe making life tough for the opposition.
