The England Cricket Team produced a dominating performance as they defeated Australia in the 2 nd Semi-finals played at Edgbaston, Birmingham of World Cup 2019 on 11 th July. Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Australia lost 3 quick wickets of Aaron Finch, Warner, and Handscomb in the first few overs. Archer dismissed Australian captain Finch while Woakes got wickets of Warner and Handscomb to leave Australia in big trouble at 14 for 3. At the end of 10 overs, Australia was struggling at 27 for 3. Steve Smith and Alex Carey looked in decent touch against top quality bowling of England. The conditions were helpful for the fast bowlers which made life tough for the Aussies batsmen. In the second match of the day, New Zealand defeated West Indies in a thrilling 2019 World Cup game played at Old Trafford, Manchester on 22 nd June 2019. West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and decided to field first. It was a perfect start as Sheldon Cottrell dismissed Martin Guptill off the very first ball with a brilliant yorker. Cottrell produced another beauty to get rid of Colin Munro to put New Zealand under pressure at 7 for 2 in the 1 st over. The experienced duo of Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor steadied the innings for Kiwis with positive stroke play. At the end of 10 overs, New Zealand scored 30 for 2. The Indian Cricket Team survived a scare before beating Afghanistan played at Rose Bowl, Southampton on 22 nd June 2019. Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Rohit Sharma was bowled by Mujeeb Ur Rahman for just 1. Kohli came to the crease and looked in decent touch along with KL Rahul. At the end of 10 overs, India scored 41 for 1. Kohli and Rahul kept on ticking the scoreboard before Mohammad Nabi dismissed KL Rahul for 30. Both batsmen added 57 runs for the 2 nd wicket. In this match, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and decided to field first. It was Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow played with positive intent right from word go.
