Women’s Big Bash League Semi-finals 1: Melbourne Stars beat Perth Scorchers to reach their maiden finals
Melbourne Stars produced a dominating performance to defeat Perth Scorchers easily in the first semi-finals played at North Oval, Sydney on Wednesday. Melbourne Stars captain Meg Lanning won the toss and decided to bowl first. It was an ideal start for Stars who did not allow Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney to score run easily making life tough for the Scorchers. At the end of the first six overs, Scorchers made 32 for 0. Anna King was bought into the attack and dismissed Sophie Devine to end the opening partnership. Scorchers openers added 32 runs for the opening wicket. King struck again dismissing Amy Jones making life tough for the opposition. A superb direct hit by Osborne ended the innings for Piparo.
