  The Indian Women’s Hockey team started the 2024/25 FIH Pro Hockey League season with a thrilling win over England played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on 15 th February. The first quarter began with the Indian women’s team putting pressure on the England defense. After an initial struggle, Savita Punia produced a superb save. India earned their first penalty corner of the match which was converted from a deflection by Vaishnavi in the 6th minute to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. The England team decided to review the decision, but the goal stood. Bourne scored a superb deflection goal in the 12 th minute as England equaled the score at 1-1.  The much-awaited ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 is about to start from 4 th March. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the tournament was originally in 2021. A total of 8 teams will take part in the tournament. All teams will play each other once and the top four teams would qualify for the knockout stage. England, Australia, India, South Africa qualified directly for the prestigious tournament finishing in the top four of ICC Women’s ODI Championship. New Zealand made it into the tournament being hosts. As the ICC qualifying tournament was canceled due to pandemic, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and West India progressed basis on the ICC ODI rankings.
