Denmark Open 2021: Indian challenge ends

 The Indian challenge ended as both PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma lost in the quarterfinals of Super 1000 Denmark Open 2021 played at Odense Park, Denmark on Friday. Sameer Verma had to retire hurt after the first game against Indonesian Tommy Suigarto. It was a good performance by Sameer who showed great skills with smashes and drops shots making life tough for the opponent. Suigarto showed intent winning the first game easily at 21-17 before Sameer withdraw from the match due to an injury. The Indian had a decent outing winning against Indian in the first round and then stunned the world number 3, Anders Antonsen, in two straight games to move into the quarterfinals. PV Sindhu also did not perform to expectations as she lost to An Se Young of South Korea in two straight games. The Indian looked out of sorts with An taking advantage. Denmark Open 2021: Two Indian shuttlers qualify for the quarterfinals

 It was a mixed bag day for the Indian shuttlers as PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma made it into the quarterfinals stage at Super 1000 Denmark Open played at Odense Park, Denmark on Thursday. In the men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth gave a tough fight to World number 1 Kento Momota losing in two straight games. The first game saw the Indian playing attacking strokes and putting the Japanese under pressure. Both players fought for each point but, Momota held his nerves to win the first game. The second game was a one-sided affair as the World number 1 looked in great touch and did not allow Indian a chance to win it easily at 21-9. Lakshya Sen found it tough against Olympic Champion Victor Axselen in two straight games. Sen was not able to create pressure on the tall Danish player and lost it by 15-21, 7-21 to be knocked out. Toyota Thailand Open 2021: PV Sindhu and 3 Indians move into the quarterfinals

  It was a good day for the Indian shuttlers as PV Sindhu and 3 other Indians moved into the quarterfinals of Toyota Super 1000 Thailand Open played in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday. After stunning the eight seeded Lee Jii Zia of Malaysia, Sameer Verma defeated Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in two straight sets. Sameer looked in great touch right from the word go and put the Denmark player under pressure. The Indian showed domination to take an 11-5 lead at the interval. After the mid-game interval, Sameer continued his aggression keeping the pressure on the opponent winning the first game at 21-12. In the second game, Gemke started off brightly with 3-1 and 5-3 leads but Sameer Verma fought back strongly to level the scores at 6-6. The Indian never looked back from there winning the second set easily at 21-9 to move into the quarterfinals.   He will take on 3 rd seeded Anders Anderson of Denmark. Korea Masters: Kidambi Srikanth and Sameer Verma move into 2nd round

It was a good start for the Indian shuttler’s as Kidambi Srikanth and Sameer Verma moved into the 2 nd round of Super 300 event played at Gwangju Women’s University Stadium, South Korea on Wednesday. After a semi-final finish in the Hong Kong Open last week, Kidambi Srikanth began on a positive note defeating Wong Wing Vincent of Hong Kong in two straight sets by 21-18, 21-17 to move into the 2 nd round. Srikanth played with confidence and never a chance to his opponent to comeback into game. He will take on Kenta Tsuneyma of Japan. Sameer Verma went into the 2 nd round as his Kazumasa Sakai of Japan retired hurt due to an injury. Sameer had a 11-8 lead at the interval. Sakai could not take part further in the match. Sameer Verma will take on Kim Dong Hyun of South Korea in the 2 nd round.
