ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Group A qualifying round: UAE stun Namibia, Netherlands qualifies for Super 12

 The United Arab Emirates provided a spirited display to register their first win in the final Group A qualifying round match played at Kardinia Park, Geelong on Thursday. UAE captain CP Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat first. Vritiya Arvind struggled initially against disciplined Namibia bowling while Muhammed Waseem hit some lovely shots not allowing dot ball pressure to rise. At the end of the first six overs, the UAE openers scored 30 for 0. After the field restrictions, Arvind's struggle ended by providing a simple catch to Lingen. Arvind and Waseem added 39 runs for the opening wicket. CP Rizwan provided the impetus along with Waseem taking singles and boundaries at will. Both batters showed intent not allowing Namibia bowlers to settle keeping the scoreboard ticking. Waseem completed fifty off 40 balls and was soon caught by Truplemann at short third man. Namibia and Bangladesh announce squads for the World T20

 With the deadline of 15 th September, two more teams announced their squads for the prestigious World T20 to be played in Australia from next month onwards. Namibia had a memorable 2021 World T20 played in UAE. They reached the main round after defeating favorites Ireland and Netherlands. It was an impressive performance as registered their first win in the Super 12 stage defeating Scotland. They lacked experience against top-quality teams like India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. This time in Australia they will play a qualifying round. They have been clubbed with the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and United Arab Emirates in Group A.  Playing their first T20 World Cup, Namibia became the fourth team to qualify for the Super 12 stage after defeating Ireland in a thriller played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Friday. Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie won the toss and decided to bat first. Stirling and Kevin O Brien put the Namibian bowlers under pressure hitting boundaries against the new ball. Stirling was severely taking on the pacers and Scholtz. At the end of the first six overs, Ireland openers scored 55 for 0. Scholtz got the breakthrough getting rid of dangerous Paul Stirling with a lovely catch at long-on by Eaton. Stirling and O Brien added 62 runs for the opening wicket.  Sri Lanka showed their domination as they won their opening match easily against Namibia played at Sheikh Zayed International Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Monday. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for the Lankan pacers Kumara and Chameera troubled Namibian batters. Theekshana got its first breakthrough getting rid of Stephen Baard. It was a brilliant bowling effort as they did not allow the opposition team to score runs easily. Theekshana got his second wicket dismissing Green trying to hit a big shot. At the end of the first six overs, Namibia scored 30 for 2.   One of the best bowlers in the Australian line-up, Glenn McGrath created history by picking the best figures in World Cup history. He achieved this remarkable feat against Minnows, Namibia at Potchefstroom on 27 th February 2003. Australian captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and decided to bat first.
