Asia Cup 2022 Match 6: Pakistan through to Super 4 stage with a dominating win

 Pakistan qualified for the Super 4 stage with a dominating win over Hong Kong in the final league game played at Sharjah Cricket Ground, Sharjah on Friday. Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan won the toss and decided to field first. The veteran Ehsan Khan got the initial breakthrough by dismissing Pakistan captain Babar Azam with a simple return catch on a slow pitch. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman looked cautious against disciplined Hong Kong bowling. At the end of the first six overs, Pakistan made 40 for 1. Fakhar Zaman and Rizwan did not look comfortable against disciplined Hong Kong bowling. After the break, both batters showed their intent keeping the scoreboard ticking with big shots. Rizwan showed his class by hitting big shots and great running between the wickets. Fakhar Zaman completed his fifty off 38 balls while Rizwan reached fifty off 42 balls.  The Indian team continued their winning run as they defeated Hong Kong comfortably played at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on Wednesday. Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan won the toss and decided to field first. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul looked cautious in the first 2 overs. The Indian openers took on Haroon Rashid in his 2 nd over smashing him for 22 runs to change the momentum. Ayush Shukla struck for Hong Kong dismissing Rohit Sharma with an easy catch by Aizaz Khan.  Rohit and Rahul added 38 runs for the opening wicket. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli did not look at ease against disciplined Hong Kong bowling. At the end of the first six overs, India made 44 for 1. Hong Kong joins Asian Giants India and Pakistan in the main round of Asia Cup 2022

 It was a memorable moment as Hong Kong reached the main round of Asia Cup 2022 after defeating the United Arab Emirates in a one-sided contest played at Al Amerat Stadium, Oman on Wednesday. After Kuwait defeated Singapore with an inferior net run rate, Hong Kong needed a win to qualify for the Asia Cup. Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start as Ayush Shukla took 2 important wickets of dangerous Muhammad Waseem over and then dismissed wicketkeeper Arvind. Ehsan Khan got the wicket of Chirag Suri in the first over. At the end of the first 6 overs, UAE scored 45 for 3. Shukla then produced the magic getting rid of Aryan Lakra to leave UAE in trouble at 47 for 4.  The 2022 Asia Cup qualifying tournament is about to start on 20 th August to be played in Muscat, Oman. Four teams will take part including Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore, and United Arab Emirates. The winner of this qualifying tournament would be grouped with Pakistan and India in Group A of the main round starting on 27 th August 2022. Due to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates reaching the finals Western Region Group also advanced to the Asia Cup qualifying tournament. Singapore and Hong Kong progressed as the top two teams from the Eastern Region Group thus joining Kuwait and UAE in the Asia Cup qualifiers. Each team will play the other team once and the team with the most points will qualify as the third team along with India and Pakistan in Group A of the main round.  The first day of the ICC World T20 2022 qualifier B saw host Zimbabwe, Netherlands, and United States of America registering dominating wins while Uganda defeated Hong Kong in a low-scoring thriller. There were some brilliant batting and bowling efforts across all four matches played on the tournament's opening day. Group A Zimbabwe began their tournament with a resounding win over Singapore in the opening match played at Queens Park Oval, Bulawayo on Monday. Singapore captain Amjad Mahboob won the toss and decided to field first. Regis Chakabva and captain Craig Ervine provided a flying start putting pressure on the Singapore bowlers right from the word go.  With Ireland and the United Arab of Emirates confirming their spots in the qualifiers for World T20 2022, there are two more spots available with the Global qualifiers B to take place from 11 th July 2022 in Zimbabwe.
