  New Zealand proved their worth as they ended the 2 nd day in a strong position against hosts India played at MCA Stadium, Pune on 25 th October 2024. Starting on the overnight score of 16 for 1, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal looked cautious against Mitchell Santer.   The first day of the 2 nd test match saw some exciting battles between bat and ball played at MCA Stadium, Pune on 24 th October 2024. New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the toss and decided to bat first. Tom Latham and Devon Conway began off to a steady start against Akashdeep Singh while Jasprit Bumrah bowled decent lines and lengths. R Ashwin struck in his first over getting rid of New Zealand captain Latham with a lovely delivery. Latham and Conway added 32 runs for the opening wicket. Will Young looked solid with his defense while Conway showed good intent against the Indian spinners. Both batters kept the scoreboard ticking.   Pakistan registered their first-ever test win at home since 2021 as they defeated visitors England by 152 runs of the 2 nd test match played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on 18 th October 2024. Starting on the overnight score of 36 for 2, it was not an ideal start for the visitors as Sajid Khan dismissed Ollie Pope with a simple return catch. Joe Root could not resist his temptation of a sweep shot and was given out LBW by Nauman Ali. The England batters struggled against Nauman Ali and Sajid Khan. Starting on the overnight score of 239 for 6, England lost an early wicket of Brydon Carse caught by Saud Shakeel at deep midwicket.   The first day of the 2 nd test match between Pakistan and England saw some excellent cricket played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on 15 th October 2024. Pakistan captain Shan Masood won the toss and decided to bat first. After the initial spell by Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts, England captain Stokes decided to bring Jack Leach and Shoaib Bashir into the attack. Jack Leach got the breakthrough dismissing Abdullah Shafique with beauty. Leach then took the wicket of Shan Masood with an easy catch to Zak Crawley at short midwicket to leave Pakistan in trouble at 19 for 2.   England and Pakistan named their playing 11 for the 2 nd test match to be played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan from 15 th October onwards. England produced a dominating performance in the first test match. After conceding 556 runs in the first innings, Harry Brook’s 317 and Root’s 262, Crawley, Duckett’s fifties ensured that the visitors posted a massive total of 823 for 7 declared. The England bowling showed great control bundling Pakistan out for 220 in the second innings to register a remarkable inning and 47 runs victory. The hosts Pakistan would be looking to make a comeback and level the series after a disappointing 10-wicket loss in the first test match.   Sri Lanka announced their playing XI for the second test match to be played at Lords, London from 29 th August onwards. The visitors suffered 5 wicket loss in the first test match at Old Trafford, Manchester. Dimuth Karaunate and Madushka would open the innings for the visitors. Madushka had a horrible outing being dismissed cheaply. Pathum Nissanka has been named as a replacement for Kusal Mendis. Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva& Kamindu Mendis comprise middle orders. Mathews and Chandimal scored half-centuries in the second innings.
