Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 SF 1: South Africa Stun Australia To Reach Finals

  South Africa produced a superb performance to defeat Australia in the first semi-finals of the Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 played at Bayumeas Oval, Kuala Lumpur on 31 st January. Australian captain Lucy Hamilton won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start for Australia as Ines McKeon was dismissed off the very ball of the match by Nini. South African team was very fortunate as Lyons got run out hitting Nini’s hand on the non-striker end. Lucy Hamilton looked impressive with some lovely shots keeping the scoreboard ticking. South African captain Kayla Reyneke got rid of Australian captain Hamilton in front of the stumps. Australian women ended the first six overs at 30 for 3.   The Super Six stage ended today with Australia suffering a 12-run loss against Sri Lanka at the UKM YSA Cricket Oval, Bangi, Malaysia on 29 th January 2025. Group 1 Group 1 saw the Indian team dominating finishing top of the points table. After 3 commanding wins in the league stage, they smashed Bangladesh in the first Super Six match by 8 wickets. Nikki Prasad’s lead side showed their domination with a resounding 150-run win over Scotland. They finished with 8 points with a massive net run rate of +5.724. Australia looked impressive in their first Super Six match against West Indies. They bundled out West Indies for just 53 and chased down the target with 7 wickets remaining.   It was a historic moment as explosive Indian opener Gongadi Trisha became the first player to score a century in Under 19 Women’s T20 history. She achieved this remarkable during the final Super Six match against Scotland played at Bayumeas Oval, Kuala Lumpur on 28 th January 2025. After being asked to bat first by the Scotland captain, Niamh Muir, it was carnage by Gongadi Trisha right from the word go putting enough pressure on the Scottish bowlers. She played attacking shots keeping momentum going by hitting boundaries with ease. At the end of the first six overs, Indian openers Trisha and Kamalini raced away to 67 for 0. Trisha reached her fifty off just 27 deliveries making life tough for Scotland bowlers. After completing a well-deserved half-century, Gongadi Trisha continued to hit boundaries and keep the scoreboard ticking.   The Indian Women’s Under 19 team proved too strong for the Bangladesh team in their first Group 1 Super Six match played at Bayumeas Oval, Kuala Lumpur on 25 th January 2025. After the first match between Scotland and Sri Lanka was washed out due to rain, the second encounter was delayed because of a wet outfield. Indian captain Nikki Prasad won the toss and decided to field first on conditions helping the bowlers. The Indian pace duo of Joshita and Shabnim Shakil rattled the Bangladesh batting line-up not allowing them to score runs easily. It was a disciplined bowling effort by the Indian bowlers as they gave just 16 runs in the first six overs, picking 3 wickets also putting enough pressure on Bangladesh batters.   The league of the Under 19 T20I Women’s World Cup 2025 ended. It was an excellent group stage game with impressive performances from associate nations and qualifying for the Super Six stage. A total of 4 groups with 4 teams each took part. The top three teams in each group progressed of the Super Six Stage. Here we look at the Results of Group Stage Matches Group A The defending champions India finished at the top of Pool A with commanding wins over West Indies, Malaysia& Sri Lanka.   The defending Champions India registered a resounding win over hosts Malaysia in their second Group A game at Bayumeas Oval, Kuala Lumpur on 21 st January 2025. After registering a 9-wicket win in the first game against West Indies, Indian captain Nikki Prasad won the toss and decided to field first. It was a dominating bowling performance by Indian bowlers as they bundled out the hosts Malaysia for a mere total of 31 runs. Making her debut, Vaishnavi Sharma looked impressive keeping things tight and not allowing Malaysian batters to score runs easily. Sharma picked up her first wicket dismissing captain Nur Diana Syuhada. She was spot on with her line and lengths not allowing any breather.
