Saudi Arabia produced the biggest upset of FIFA World Cup history as they defeated Argentina in the Group C game played at Lusail Iconic Stadium, Lusail on 22 November 2022. Argentina began the game with attacking moves putting pressure on Saudi Arabia’s defense. Lionel Messi converted the penalty into a goal after being awarded via VAR in the 10 th minute to give Argentina a 1-0 lead. Lionel Messi scored a brilliant shot the referee called it offside. Di Maria also scored a goal but it was disallowed due to another offside. Argentina kept more pressure on the Saudi defense with consistent shots. Argentina was denied another goal as Martinez scored but it was called offside. Saudi Arabia showed some fight controlling the possession.
