Hero Men’s Asia Hockey Tournament 2025: Indian Team Qualify For World Cup Directly

  The Indian Men’s hockey team beat South Korea with ease in the finals of the Hero Men’s Asia Cup 2025 played at Rajgir Sports Complex, Rajgir on 7 th September. It was a great start for the hosts as Sukhjeet Singh scored from reverse inside the D withing the first 30 seconds. Indian team kept the pressure with relentless attacks not allowing any chances for South Korean team. Jugraj Singh missed a golden penalty stroke as Korean goalkeeper made a superb save. Indian team showed their class kept piling pressure on South Korean team. At the end of the first quarter, India led 1-0. Jugraj Singh was shown a green card meaning two-minute suspension. Both teams were not able to get any chances as defence looked solid enough. Dilpreet Singh scored a powerful low shot giving no chance for Korean keeper in the 28 th minute to make it 2-0 in favour of India. Paris Olympics 2024: Indian team loses to Belgium

  The Indian men’s hockey team suffered their first defeat in the men’s hockey competition against defending champions Belgium in a closely fought encounter played in Paris on 1 st August 2024. It was a great start to the game in the first quarter as both teams entered each other D but the defense was solid, not allowing chances to score goals. Sreejesh produced a superb save before Hardik cleared the shot. Belgium goalkeeper Vansach denied the goal with a lovely shot by Abhishek. At the end of the first quarter, the score remained 0-0. De Slover gave away the ball as Abhishek hit a powerful shot inside the D in the 18 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead. Belgium put some pressure on the Indian defense with lovely saves from penalty corners. Amit Rohidas took the penalty corner instead of Harmanpreet Singh. At the end of the first half, India led 1-0.  After sensational group matches, the quarterfinals of the men’s hockey tournament in the Tokyo Olympics has been announced. Australia finished top of Pool A with 4 wins and 1 draw. After being drubbed by Australia 1-7, India stormed back into contention winning 4 matches with 12 points. Needing to stay alive in the tournament, Argentina defeated New Zealand to confirm their 3 rd spot. Spain completed fourth place with only 1 win, 2 losses, and 2 draws. In the other group, Belgium topped the Pool with 4 wins and 1 draw. Germany ended the Pool stage with 9 points with 3 wins and 2 losses. Great Britain finished third in the points table with 8 points with 2 wins, 2 losses, 1 loss, and 2 draws. Netherlands completed fourth place with 7 points including 2 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw.
