Indonesia Open 2023: Satwik/Chirag Shetty wins historic title.

  SatwikRankiReddy and Chirag Shetty registered a straight game victory over Aaron Chia and Soh Woo Yik of Malaysia in straight games of Super 1000 Indonesia Open played in Jakarta on 18 June 2023. It was a great start by the Malaysian pair putting pressure on Satwik/Chirag taking 3-0 lead initially and maintained lead before dynamic duo made strong comeback to take successive points and keep momentum going for Indian. At the mid-game interval, Satwik and Chirag had 11-9 lead. After the break, the Indian pair continued their attacking style of play keeping pressure on Aaron and Soh with lovely smashes winning first game at 21-18. The second game began with both pairs taking alternate points till 5-5 before the Indian pair kept pressure on Malaysian taking 11-7 lead at interval.   The men’s doubles pair of Satwik/Chirag Shetty progressed into the finals while HS Prannoy lost in the semi-finals of Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2023 played in Jakarta on 17 June. SatwikRankiReddy/Chirag Shetty cameback winning against Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae of South Korea. The first game saw South Korean pair showing their class putting pressure on the Indian pair with lovely shots. At the mid-game interval, Kang and Seo had 11-6 lead. After the break, Satwik/Chirag tried to make a comeback, but it was the South Korean pair winning first game 21-17. The second game saw the Indian pair fighting back strongly putting the South Korean pair under pressure with smashes. It was a dominating performance by Satwik/Chirag taking 11-4 lead at the break.   It was another impressive day for the Indian shuttlers as HS Prannoy and men’s doubles pair progressed into semi-finals of Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2023 played in Jakarta, Indonesia on 16 June. HS Prannoy showed his class with straight game win over third seeded Kodai Naraoka of Japan. It was a closely fought affair between these two players. At the mid-game interval, Prannoy had an 11-9 lead. After the break, the match ebbed and flowed before the Indian won the first game at 21-18. The second game saw Kodai Naroka begin with an attacking display of badminton and kept the pressure back on Prannoy in the initial stages.   It was a good day for the Indian shuttlers as 3 out of 5 progressed into the quarterfinals of Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2023 played in Jakarta, Indonesia on 15 June. Kidambi Srikanth started the day with a straight game win over his compatriot Lakshya Sen. It was a closely fought affair right from word go as there were long rallies. Srikanth fought back strongly to take slender 11-10 lead at the break. After the interval, both players took alternate points till 17-17 before Srikanth took 4 points in succession to win the first game 21-17. The second was another closely fought affair as both players fought for each point.   It was a great day for Indian shuttlers as Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth won their first-round matches of Super 1000 Indonesia Open in Jakarta, Indonesia on 14 June 2023. Lakshya Sen defeated Lee Zi Jia of Malaysia in two straight games. Both players looked out of form this year and needed some motivation. It was a great performance by Sen who played with aggression and made life tough for his opponent. After the initial struggle, Jia showed his power taking slender 11-10 lead at the break. After the interval, Sen looked sharp winning the first game easily by 21-17.   The top Indian shuttlers got off to a great start by winning the first-round matches of Super 1000 Indonesia Open played in Jakarta on 13 June 2023. PV Sindhu began their campign with a straight game victory over local favorites Tungjung. The first game saw both players taking points and making unforced errors. Sindhu looked sharp with her shots and put the Indonesian under pressure. At the mid-game interval, the Indian had slender 11-10 lead. After the break, both players continued to take alternate points till 14-14 before Sindhu took 5 points in succession. Despite Tunjung efforts, Sindhu won the first game by 21-19.
