BWF World Championship 2022 Day 1: Top Indian shuttlers qualify for the 2nd round

 The top Indian shuttlers registered impressive wins on the opening day of BWF World Championship 2022 played in Tokyo on Monday. It was a decent day for male shuttlers as HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth won their respective matches. The only disappointment was Sai Praneeth giving a tough fight for world number 4 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei. It was a very closely fought affair as Sai lost the match by 15-21, 21-15, and 15-21 to be knocked out of the tournament. Sai looked in great shape in the second game, but Chou upped his game-winning first and third games easily. Lakshya Sen continued his impressive form defeating Hans Kristian Vittinghus in straight games. It was a dominating performance by Sen winning it by 21-12, 21-11. Indonesia Open 2021: Good Day for Indian shuttlers

 It was another good day for the Indian shuttlers as 3 out of 4 qualified for the quarterfinals stage of Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2021 played at Bali on Thursday. PV Sindhu had no problems defeating Germany Y Li in two straight games. It was a dominating display by the Indian who showed aggressive play right from word go and made life tough for the opponent. Sindhu won the first game easily at 21-12. The second game was a much closer fight but the Indian closed the game out by 21-18 to move into the quarterfinals. She will face Sim Y J of South Korea. Sai Praneeth had a great start to the tournament as he defeated J-Ho-Shue of Canada in two straight sets by 21-17, 21-16. It was a dominating performance by the Indian star who looked shaky at the start but played with aggressive intent and won the match easily to move into the 2 nd round. The top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Sai Praneeth moved into the 2 nd round of the Super 750 Denmark Open played at Odense Sports Park, Odense on Tuesday. PV Sindhu defeated Maria Georgia Tunjung in two straight sets by 22-20, 21-18. It was a struggle for the World Championship who was trailing 13-16 and was forced to save a match point at 19-20. Sindhu took 3 points in succession to win the first set at 22-20. In the 2 nd game also, Sindhu struggled to find her rhythm who was trailing 6-9. It was a disappointing day for the Indian contingent as PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and Sai Praneeth crashed out in the first round of the Super 500 tournament played at Incheon, South Korea on Wednesday. In the women’s singles, PV Sindhu lost to Zheng Biewen of The USA in three sets by 21-7, 22-24, 15-21 to be knocked out in the first round. The World Championship showed aggression in the first game and won it easily by 21-7. In the second set, both players fought for each point. Sindhu had a match point but Zheng did not give up and won the 2 nd set by 24-22. In the third and deciding game, the Indian lost the plot and was knocked out in the first round. The Indian challenge ended as Sai Praneeth went down fighting to Anthony Gingting of Indonesia in the quarterfinals of the Super 1000 China Open played at Changzhou on Friday. It was a great start for Sai who started the 1 st game on an aggressive note-taking a 3-0 lead and continued to build on the lead. At the interval, the Indian led 11-3. After the interval, Ginting reduced the gap to 11-14 but Sai took 1 st game at 21-16. Ginting bounced back strongly in the 2 nd game taking a 9-4 lead. PV Sindhu defeated Nozomi Okuhara in two straight sets by 21-7, 21-7 to become the 1 st Indian shuttler to win a gold medal at the World Championships played at Basel, Switzerland played on Sunday. After losing 2 successive finals in 2017 and 2018, Sindhu looked in good shape. With the help of foreign coach Kim Jyun-Hung, the gold medallists improved her stroke play and did a lot of strength training which helped her in winning long rallies. It was a good day for the Indian shuttler’s as Sai Praneeth and HS Prannoy moved into the 3 rd round of the BWF World Championship 2019 played at Basel, Switzerland on Tuesday. HS Prannoy stunned former World Champion Lin Dan in three games by 21-11, 13-21, 21-7 to move into the 3 rd round. It was a dominating display by the Indian who never allowed Lin Dan to play his natural game and led 11-5 at the interval. The Indian continued to dominate the Chinese and won the 1 st set at 21-11. It was a great start for the Indian shuttlers as Kidambi Srikanth, Sai Praneeth and HS Prannoy moved into the 2 nd round of the BWF World Championship 2019 played at Basel, Switzerland on Monday. Sai Praneeth defeated Jason Anthony Ho-Shue of Canada in two straight games 21-17, 21-16 to move into the 2 nd round. Both players took alternate points till 5-5 before Sai Praneeth played aggressive badminton to take an 11-7 lead at the interval.
