BWF World Championship 2025: Memorable Day For Indian Shuttlers

  The Indian badminton contingent had a field day with all three players including PV Sindhu, Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila; Satwik/Chirag stunned their fancied opponents to enter the quarterfinals of BWF World Championship 2025 played at Paris on 28 th August 2025. The mixed doubles pairing of Dhruv Kapila & Tanisha Crasto stunned the 5 th seeded Hong Kong pair CM Tang and YS Tse in three thrilling games. It was a great start for both pairs fighting for each point. At the mid-game break, Indian pair had slender 11-10 lead.   PV Sindhu and the men’s doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty entered the second round of the prestigious Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2025 played at Jakarta on 3 rd June. PV Sindhu edged past Nozomi Okhuara in three thrilling games. The first game was a closely fought encounter as both players took alternate points. They also committed unforced errors.   The Indian badminton contingent will look to showcase their skills in the prestigious Badminton Asia Mixed team championship tournament played in Qingdao, China. Indian team has been clubbed with Macau, China &runners-up of the 2023 edition South Korea in Group D. They need to top the group to avoid the likes of China or Indonesia in the quarterfinals. They have been dealt a major blow as star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has withdrawn from the tournament due to an injury that she suffered during the training session in Guhwati.   The Indian shuttlers including Lakshya Sen and doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty began the Paris Olympics on a winning note played in Paris on 27 th July 2024. Lakshya Sen defeated Guatemala Kevin Cordon in a Group L match. It was a dominating performance by the Indian keeping the pressure on the opposition with smashes. The Indian dominated with smashes winning the first game easily by a scoreline of 21-8. The second game did not start well for the Indian as he committed lots of unforced errors. Kevin Cordon looked impressive keeping momentum with an 11-6 lead at the mid-game interval. After the break, Sen made a strong fightback and reduced the margin.  India’s top shuttlers HS Prannoy and Satwik/Chirag Shetty progressed into the quarterfinals of the Super 750 India Open with contrasting wins at KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 18 th January 2024. HS Prannoy defeated Indian counterpart Pranshu Rajawat in three thrilling games. The first game was a closely fought encounter as both players fought for each point before Rajawat held onto his nerves to win the first game 22-20. Prannoy then showed his class with some lovely badminton winning the next two games at 21-14, and 21-14 to win the match in straight games. It was an impressive performance by Prannoy who held onto his nerves after losing the first game. He will now face Wang T W of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals.   It was another impressive day for the Indian shuttlers as HS Prannoy and men’s doubles pair progressed into semi-finals of Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2023 played in Jakarta, Indonesia on 16 June. HS Prannoy showed his class with straight game win over third seeded Kodai Naraoka of Japan. It was a closely fought affair between these two players. At the mid-game interval, Prannoy had an 11-9 lead. After the break, the match ebbed and flowed before the Indian won the first game at 21-18.
