Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Mumbai Beat Haryana To Qualify For Semi-Finals

  Under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, Mumbai won by showing fighting spirit to beat Haryana in the 3 rd quarterfinals of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 11 th February 2025. Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a disastrous start for the 42-time Ranji champion as they looked in deep trouble with the likes of Ayush Mhatre, Akash Anand, Siddhesh Lad &Suryakumar Yadav dismissed cheaply. Shivam Dube along with Rahane provided some resemblance. Mumbai looked in deep trouble at 113 for 7. Tanush Kotian and Shams Mulani rescued the innings putting on 165 runs for the 8 th wicket.  Madhya Pradesh became the new Champions of Ranji Trophy 2021/22 as they defeated Mumbai on the fifth and final day played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday. Starting on the overnight score of 113 for 2, Suved Parkar and Arman Jaffer showed intent right from the word go putting pressure on the Madhya Pradesh bowlers. Both Mumbai batsmen kept the charge with lovely shots trying to give momentum. Gaurav Yadav eventually got a breakthrough dismissing Armaan Jaffer bowling around the legs. Jaffer and Parkar added 56 runs for the 3 rd wicket. Madhya Pradesh bowlers was warned for delivering negative lines. Parkar and Sarfaraz Khan took the charge with attacking strokes keeping the scoreboard ticking. Parkar completed fifty off 56 balls showing his class.  The Madhya Pradesh batsmen made good use of the conditions as they ended the third day in a commanding position against Mumbai played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Friday. Starting on the overnight score of 123 for 1, Shubham Sharma showed intent right from the word go putting bad deliveries away. Dubey completed fifty off 137 balls while Shubham Sharma reached half-century off 74 balls. Mumbai got an early chance as Arman Jaffer dropped a tough chance to get rid of Shubham Sharma.  It was another brilliant contest between bat and ball with some action on the 2nd day of the 2021/22 Ranji Trophy finals played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Thursday.  Madhya Pradesh got off to a perfect start as Garauv Yadav struck in the first over itself dismissing Shams Mulani. After the top-quality bowling by Yadav and Anubhav Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan showed intent against Kumar Kartikeya and completed fifty off 152 balls.  The first day of the finals between Mumbai and Madhya saw a good contest between both bat and ball with honors even played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Wednesday. Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and decided to bat first. The left-handed bat Jaiswal showed played cautiously against Kumar Kartikeya.   Thanks to an all-round performance by Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings registered an emphatic win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday.   Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis made an aggressive start putting pressure on the RCB bowlers. Du Plessis showed his intent against the pacers while Gaikwad looked decent with his strokes.   It was another record-breaking performance as Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Paddikal broke records during the 2 nd Semi-finals played at the Palam Air Force Ground, New Delhi on Thursday. Karnataka captain R Samarth won the toss and decided to field first. Jaiswal was dismissed cheaply by Prasidh Krishna cheaply. Shaw looked solid at one end putting pressure on Karnataka bowlers smashing Krishna for 21 runs in the 8 th over to shift the momentum.   It was a historic moment as Mumbai defeated Saurashtra in the finals of the prestigious Ranji Trophy played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 28 th January 2012. Starting on the overnight score of 287 for 6, Mumbai made 68 runs and were bowled out for 355 to take a massive lead of 207 runs. It was a superb bowling effort by Mumbai bowlers as Ajit Agarkar and Dhawal Kulkarni produced magical spells. Right from the word go, Agarkar and Kulkarni put the Saurashtra batsmen under pressure. Dharmendra Singh Jadeja was the top scorer for Saurashtra. Kulkarni grabbed 5 for 32 in 14.4 overs while Agarkar took 4 for 15 in 9 overs. Mumbai bowled out Saurashtra for 82.
