For the first time in their history, the West Indies Cricket Team emerged World T20 Champions as they defeated the hosts Sri Lanka played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 7 th October 2012. Ajantha Mendis struck for Sri Lanka dismissing Bravo ending a 59 runs partnership for the 3 rd wicket. The hosts kept a tight line and lengths reducing West Indies to 87 for 5. Samuels played with positive intent reaching his half-century off 46 balls. After completing his fifty, he just took off and smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers.
