Malaysia Masters 2023: Indian shuttlers move into second round.

  The top Indian shuttlers including PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy progressed into the second round of Super 500 Malaysia Masters to be played in Kuala Lumpur on 23 May 2023. Kidambi Srikanth won his opening round encounter against Tomas Junior Popov of France in straight games. It was a dominating performance by the Indian who looked in complete control with lovely shots and did not allow his opponent to comeback into the game. Srikanth won the match easily at 21-12, 21-16 to move into the second round. He will now face Vitisdarn of Thailand. HS Prannoy stunned Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in three thrilling games. It was an amazing performance by Prannoy showing his class after losing the first set. The Indian lost the first game at 16-21 before making a strong comeback to win next two games at 21-14, 21-13.  The Indian challenge ended as HS Prannoy went down fighting to 8 th ranked Na Ka Long Anus of Hong Kong, China in the semi-finals of the Super 750 Malaysia Masters played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday. HS Prannoy looked nervous at the start of the first game before putting pressure on Long with long rallies and smashes. At the mid-game interval, Prannoy had an 11-7 lead. After the break, Long tried to gather points with smashes but missed a few easy chances as Indian maintained a four-point lead. Prannoy committed a few unforced errors but won the first game easily at 21-17. The second game saw Na Ka Long Anus showing intent right from the word go as Prannoy struggled with his shots as the Hong Kong player kept the pressure on Indian with long rallies.  HS Prannoy was the only Indian to progress into the semi-finals while PV Sindhu lost to her nemesis Tai Tzu Ying at Super 500 Malaysia Masters played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday. PV Sindhu lost to her nemesis Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in three games. Tai Tzu Ying started the game on a positive note before the Indian made a strong comeback. At the mid-game interval, Tai led 11-9. After the break, Tai looked in complete control putting enough pressure on Sindhu winning the first game easily at 21-13. The second game began for the Indian with lovely shots putting enough pressure on Tai. It was a much better performance by Sindhu keeping her under pressure.  It was another good outing for the Indian shuttlers as PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy moved into the quarterfinals with comprehensive wins in the Super 500 Malaysia Masters played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday. PV Sindhu proved too strong for Zhang Y M of China in two straight games. It was a dominating performance by the Indian keeping the pressure on the young Chinese winning it by 21-12, 21-10 to move into the quarterfinals. She will face her nemesis Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei. Sindhu has a poor record against Tai. Sindhu would be looking to avenge the defeat that she suffered during the Super 750 Malaysia Open that took place last week. The Indian lost her quarterfinals match in three games.  The Indian shuttlers had a great day as 4 out of 6 qualified for the 2 nd round of the Super 500 Malaysia Masters played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday. PV Sindhu defeated He Bingjao in three thrilling games during the first round. It was a superb performance by the Indian star keeping the pressure on the Chinese winning the first game easily at 21-13. Bingjao made a strong comeback in 2 nd game putting enough pressure on Sindhu winning it by 21-17 to force the match into the decider. The third game saw Sindhu up her aggression and won it by 21-15 to move into the second round. She will face Zhang Y M of China. Zhang Y M defeated Wardani in two straight games at 23-21 and 21-14.
