Singapore Open 2023 Day 1: Disappointing day for Indian shuttlers
The Indian shuttlers had a disappointing as only 3 of them progressed into the 2 nd round of Super 750 Singapore Open on 6 June 2023. Kidambi Srikanth defeated Wangchareon of Thailand in two straight games. The first game saw Thai player began on aggressive note taking 5-0 lead before the Indian showed great spirit to level the scores. At the mid-game interval, Wangchareon had slender 11-10 lead. After the break, Srikanth proved too strong for the opponent, winning the first game easily at 21-15. The second game saw this time, Srikanth began well before both players fought for each point. At the break, Wangchareon led 11-10. Both players kept with each other but the Indian played aggressive badminton to win it by 21-19 to move into the second round.
