This Day That Year: Afghan batsman created record in T20Is

  It was a remarkable day as Hazratullah Zazai produced one of the best innings against Ireland played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Dehradun on 23 rd February 2019. Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan won the toss and decided to bat first. Zazai and Ghani started off a flying start putting pressure on Ireland bowling attack right from the word go. At the end of the first six overs, Afghan openers raced away to 64. Zazai made the batting look easy and reached his half-century off 25 balls.   The Indian captain Virat Kohli was at his sublime best during the 1 st T20I match against a power-packed West Indies side played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 6 th December 2019. Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to field first. It was a superb batting effort by the powerful West Indies batting line-up with contributions from Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetymer, Kieron Pollard helping the visitors post a massive total of 207 for 5 in 20 overs. India’s fielding was not up to the mark as they dropped catches and gave few extra runs.   During the 2 nd Test match against South Africa played at MCA Stadium, Pune on 11 th October 2019, Virat Kohli achieved another major milestone in international cricket. Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. The hero of the last match Rohit Sharma was dismissed cheaply by Kagiso Rabada. Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara steadied the innings putting pressure on the South African bowling line-up. Both batsmen looked composed with his stroke play against good quality pacers. Defending Champions Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the tournament to be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on 19 th September.   Under the captaincy of Tim Paine, the Australian Cricket Team defeated England by 185 runs to win the fourth Ashes Test match played at Old Trafford, Manchester on 8 th September 2019. By virtue of this win, Australia retained the prestigious urn on England soil after 2001. It was a remarkable performance by the Australian side who showed great character after losing the third Test match. Starting the final day on 18 for 2, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, and Mitchell Starc produced some brilliant bowling. Jason Roy and Joe Denly looked solid in the initial period.
