Paris Olympics: India Stun Australia To Finish 2nd in the group
The Indian men’s hockey stunned Australia in their final Group B match played in Paris on 2 nd August 2024. It was an aggressive start for both teams in the first quarter. P Sreejesh produced some lovely saves denying Australia the lead. Australia earned their first penalty corner of the match but was put away by the defense. Sreejesh was solid with another superb save which frustrated Australians. Abhishek produced a superb goal in the 12 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead. Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh scored from the penalty corner in the 13 th minute doubling the lead and ending the first quarter with a 2-0 lead. The second quarter did not begin well for the Indian team as Vivek Sagar Prasad was awarded a green card. Australia was awarded a penalty corner as P Sreejesh produced another lovely save to deny them the lead again. Indian defense looked strong that did not allow Australia any chances to score goals.
