Lanka Premier League Finals: Jaffna Stallions beat Gladiators to become LPL champions

  Jaffna Stallions produced an all-round display defeating Galle Gladiators easily to become the Champions of the inaugural edition of Lanka Premier League played at MRIECS Stadium, Hambantota on Wednesday. Jaffna Stallions captain Thisara Perera won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision paid off as Charles and Avishka Fernando provided a flying start putting pressure on the opposition bowlers. Charles was in sublime form hitting boundaries at will making life tough for Gladiators. Lakshan got the breakthrough dismissing the dangerous Charles. Stallions openers put on 44 runs in just 28 balls. At the end of the first six overs, Stallions made 51 for 1. After the field restrictions, Gladiators bowlers made a strong comeback in the match taking wickets of Asalanka and Fernando to put Stallions under some pressure. It was an exciting day of cricket between Sri Lanka and New Zealand on the first day of 1 st Test match played at Galle International Stadium, Galle on Wednesday. After electing to bat first, Jeet Raval and Tom Latham got the visitors to a steady start adding 64 runs. Akila Danajaya struck thrice to reduce Kiwis at 71 for 3.
