Thanks to Kapil Dev’s magical innings, India defeated Zimbabwe in a Group B match played at Nevil Ground, Royal Turnbridge Wells on 18 th June 1983. Indian captain Kapil Dev won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision did not pay off as Rawson and Curran had left India in tatters at 9 for 4. Sunil Gavaskar, Kris Srikanth, Mohinder Amarnath, and Sandeep Patil went cheaply. Yashpal Sharma could not score much as India lost half of the side with 17 runs on the board.
