Hong Kong Open Badminton 2025: Indian Shuttlers Perform Well

  It was a good outing for the Indian shuttlers as most of them made into the 2 nd round of the Super 500 Hong Kong Open played on 10 th September 2025. Lakshya Sen goes through to the second round with a three-set win over Chinese Taipei Wang. Wang began first game on a positive note putting pressure on Sen taking 11-7 lead at the break. After the break, Sen fought back strongly to reduce the gap. Both players fought for each point before the Indian showed fighting spirit winning first game at 22-20. The second game went on a similar script with Wang showing his aggressive mindset keeping Sen under pressure. At the mid-game break, Wang took a 11-7 lead.   It was a mixed day for Indian shuttlers as HS Prannoy entered made it into the second of the Super 1000 China Open played at Changzhou on 22 nd July 2025. HS Prannoy made a stunning comeback to beat 18 th ranked Koki Watanabe of Japan in three thrilling games. The first game saw Watanabe dominating with lovely smashes and not allowing any chances for Prannoy making a comeback winning it easily by 21-8. The second game was a closely fought affair right from word go before Prannoy made a strong comeback to take 11-9 lead at the break. PV Sindhu eased past WY Zhang of Canada in two straight games. It was a dominating performance by former World champion putting the opponent under immense pressure. In the men’s singles section, HS Prannoy lost to LY Su of Chinese Taipei in three thrilling games. The first game saw the Indian dominating the play keeping the pressure on the Chinese Taipei player to win it by 21-16.   LY Su showed great fighting spirit with some lovely shots keeping pressure on Prannoy before winning the second game 21-18. After a disappointing outing in 2024, a few of them started with a bang and looked sharp. In the men’s singles section, HS Prannoy cruised past Canada’s Brian Young in three games. The first game saw the Indian dominating with aggressive smashes and putting the opponent under immense pressure winning it easily by 21-12.
