ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers 2023 Super Six Match 4: Sri Lanka beat Zimbabwe to qualify for World Cup 2023

  Sri Lanka registered a thumping win over hosts Zimbabwe in a one-sided match played at Bulawayo Sports Club, Bulawayo on 2 July 2023. Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to field first. Dilshan Madushanka ripped the top order dismissing Joylord Gumbie in the very first over. He then dismissed Wesley Medherve cheaply. Craig Ervine showed intent with some lovely boundaries before Madushanka got rid of him to leave Zimbabwe struggling big time. At the end of first 10 overs, Zimbabwe scored 40 for 3. Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza steadied the ship for Zimbabwe putting bad deliveries away for boundaries keeping scoreboard ticking.   Scotland registered a comprehensive win over two-time World Champion West Indies in match 4 of Super Six stage played at Harare Sports Club, Harare on 1 July 2023. Scotland captain Richard Berrington won the toss and decided to field first. The decision paid off as Brandon McMullen got rid of Johnson Charles with a good catch by McBride. McMullen struck again to dismiss Brooks as Watts took sharp catch at slips. McMullen took his third wicket with a easy return catch to dismiss King leaving West Indies in trouble.   Zimbabwe continued their winning form as they defeated spirited Oman in a high scoring affair played at Queens Sport Club, Bulawayo on 29 June 2023. Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood won the toss and decided to field first. Craig Ervine was given out by the umpire, but the decision was upheld as the ball pitching outside leg. Ervine and Gumbie looked in decent touch keeping momentum going for Zimbabwe. At the end of first 10 overs, Zimbabwe openers scored 40 without losing any wickets. Kallehmuallah produced a beauty to dismiss Craig Ervine. Ervine and Gumbie added 46 runs for the opening wicket. Fayyaz Butt dismissed the other opener Gumbie.   The 9 th day of the ICC ODI World Cup qualifiers saw two outstanding contrasting performances with Zimbabwe producing record win over United States of America while Netherlands stunned West Indies in a high scoring thriller on 26 June 2023. Zimbabwe versus United States of America Zimbabwe produced a dominating win in their final league match against United States of America played at Harare Sports Club, Harare. USA captain Monak Patel won the toss and decided to field first. Joylord Gumbie and Innocent Kaia got off to a decent start before Kaia was dismissed. Kaia and Gumbie added 56 runs for the opening wicket. Sean Williams and Gumbie looked in great touch keeping the scoreboard ticking making life tough for USA bowlers.
