CPL 2021 Finals: Dominic Drakes brilliance helps St Kitts and Nevis Patriots win a last ball thriller
Thanks to a great effort by Dominic Drakes, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots defeated St Lucia Kings in a thrilling final of CPL 9 played at Warner Park, St Kitts on Wednesday. St Lucia Kings captain Andre Fletcher won the toss and decided to bat first. It was an aggressive start by Fletcher who smashed Sheldon Cottrell for a six. With the scoreboard reading 11 runs off 5 deliveries, rain arrived, and stopped play. After a short rain delay break, Fawad Ahmed struck as Sheldon Cottrell took a brilliant catch running backward and fell right back on his neck. Drakes got rid of Mark Deyal on his first ball of the spell putting Kings under pressure. Evin Lewis injured his shoulder while fielding and was taken by physio out of the field. Rakheem Cornwall looked in superb touch putting the Patriot's bowlers under serious pressure. At the end of the first six overs, St Lucia Kings scored 46 for 2.
